Hot Aisle Containment

HAC encloses the aisle where hot air is exhausted from the IT equipment (rear of racks), directing it back to cooling.

Most HAC installations use vertically-mounted panels (sometimes referred to as VHAC) to direct the hot air into a ceiling plenum which the AHU returns also connects into as shown below:

Where in-row AHU's are used between racks, a horizontal roof would be used like most CAC installations.

Hot Aisle Containment can be achieved in three ways – rack supported, free standing or ceiling hung.

Ceiling Hung

These options use the ceiling to support the vertical panels and doors and provide ground-to-roof coverage, making them a customisable option.

Free-Standing

Free-standing options support their own structure and are a more flexible option than rack supported containment.

They accommodate a variety of sizes and brands, and the cabinets can be installed after the containment system has been deployed. They are suitable for growing data centres or multiphase projects.
